In this Art Therapy Class you will work with colours in a way that you probably haven’t done before. If you start with painting then you spend time exploring the colour and all the possibilities it contains. Here you are not asked to draw or come up with an image, in fact you need not know drawing or painting at all. The process of working with the colour and letting the colour work on you slowly reaches within to bring out your inner images. The moment of discovering your inner images is thrilling and everyone gets there at their own pace under the gentle guidance of the therapist.
The wet-on-wet watercolour based technique evangelised by HATA members was developed and refined by the German physician Dr. Margarethe Hauschka almost a century ago. It combines the wisdom of anthroposophy along with the artistic practice of painting to create a uniquely therapeutic and creative medium. According to Dr. Hauschka, Art Therapy is never about perfection or the finished product but about the activity itself and the process of it, which brings an internal soul movement and resultant satisfaction and joy.
So anyone can paint and partake regardless of the skill level or lack of previous exposure to art or painting. It is an ideal medium to de-stress, release and express in a safe, comforting space and has manifold benefits when practiced regularly under the guidance of a trained art therapist.
ART THERAPY CLASSES
Classes are conducted in a group setting but everyone works independently on their own painting. The group plays an important role as a container and as a reflection of our potential. Each participant works with the therapist based on their own needs and objectives, exercises are customized as per the requirements of the client. Instructions are separate and personalised for every person.
Whether the client is only interested in art, or in self discovery or needs support through a difficult condition it is a gentle and creative way to approach any situation. Even in the toughest of conditions Art Therapy can bring comfort and joy when practised alongside other therapies. The soft but sure guidance of the therapist allows the client to explore at their own pace and a gentle nudge at the right time gets them to transcend the limits they put on themselves.
Participants explore and discover the myriad shades of their inner lives through the medium of organic watercolours on a wet paper. Colours brings to life a whole new vocabulary of emotions and sensations which are inaccessible through words alone. A wonderful way to discover new perspectives, possibilities and buried talents – this form of Art Therapy is unique in its versatility.
Our therapists conduct weekly classes and are available for physical classes in Mumbai. Classes are help on Tuesdays 5-7pm, Thursdays 6-8pm and Saturdays 10:30 – 12:30pm and 3:30 – 5:30pm.
